Someday I am going to have time... TODAY begins the change!

Ha, Ha! I started this post almost a year ago, and apparently only got the title down!

It has been a crazy wild ride for the last 6 1/2 years at our house. I started school in Fall 2010 ready to be a graphic designer at Southern Utah University. The year I spent there was amazing! I could not have spent time with better faculty & students. I will always be grateful for the experience, it totally changed my life in so many ways!

In Fall 2011 I transferred to BYU and was leaning more toward Illustration. Again I was truly blessed to spend 5 semesters interacting with amazing faculty and students who forever changed my view of the world and life in general. During my final semester there I applied to the Illustration program with the caveat that if I did not get in it was GOd's way of telling me that maybe I was still supposed to do Nursing. Well, the rest is finally HISTORY! I did not get in, and I started looking at Nursing School options in the area.

I transferred to Salt Lake Community College in the fall of 2013 after I had our beautiful boy S. It was a tough 2 semesters for the family as I stacked all of the prerequisites I still needed for the Nursing program so that I was able to apply at the end of Spring semester.

One week after I applied to the Nursing Program I went to my OB/GYN for my annual check-up. Funny thing, I always do a pregnancy test at the office because my cycles are crazy. The MA quickly came into my room and said, "Um, it has a line...I think it is positive..." That day our life turned around again.

I was accepted to the SLCC Nursing Class starting Jan 2015, my baby was due 2-12-15. My pregnancies are not blissful, so we knew it was not going to happen. I started one of the Nursing classes (Pathophysiology) in the Fall and it went okay, I actually didn't have to go to the hospital until a few hours after my last final December 11th. This was a record for us.

Needless to say, I finally convinced them in January that I would not be starting school with my amazing study buddy Meaghan. That was a huge disappointment, but turned into a blessing.

We had a beautiful baby girl who ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days and I was exhausted. I could not imaging if I had been trying to attend the first semester of Nursing School. We were still caring for Grandma Walther, and that was the end of her time with us, (she passed away 2 years ago today.) I am so grateful that I was able to spend those last few months with her, helping and caring for her. I will always wish that I had more to give in those last moments, I was so tired from caring for everyone that I did not get to enjoy her as much as I wanted to.

Anyway, the REAL NEWS today is that I am sitting here in my final classes of Nursing school!!!  I will graduate next week with my RN. I still have the NCLEX (the national test for your Nursing License) ahead, but my class and clinical time is finished!

I am so grateful for all of my sweet family, especially Mike, who have taken up the slack to make this happen. I know that this is where God wanted me, I have been so blessed by the classmates I have been associated with. They are clever, insightful, and so willing to take care of the people they interact with. Our class has the unique blessing of really being a Non-traditional student group. I think the mean age is close to 35, making for a really balanced group of adults who are all going through the challenges of real life and student life together.

Anyway, this is a long post, but I really felt the need today to document the journey. It has been a blessing that I hope continues to bless my family far into the future. I am so thankful that the Lord nudged me this direction, and that Mike has been so supportive as I found my path.

God is good, Nurse for life, Familes are Forever!
